The entire ensemble of buildings at the Hamanis’ Manor embodies at least 200 years of history. The restored log house was built in 1886 for a wealthy industrialist from Ilguciems - Hermann Rallenbeck, director of the Westphalian Wire Factory. Over the years, it has undergone changes, adding to the neoclassical style both baroque and elegant classicism. For example, in 1922, the then landlord Samuel Sachs, a member of the committee of the Riga Stock Exchange, built a magnificent entrance, as well as a terrace with columns on the side of the garden.
The manor reconstruction project was developed by Anda Argale (“Arhitekti Ārgaļi”) in cooperation with the PLIO Bureau. It is planned to restore as accurately as possible the elements of the building found in this national architectural monument, a legacy received over three centuries. Following the traditions of the historical development of the building, the volume to be renovated is being erected applying the latest technical solutions. CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) frame allows you to create both modern, ample open spaces, or split the space by adapting the partition layout to the needs and preferences of the occupier.
Taking into account climate changes and the associated risks, an environmentally friendly, remotely controlled air-to-water heating and cooling system is installed that will ensure low-cost heating. This is complemented by a modern ventilation and air recovery system, access control, security and fire safety systems of the latest generation. There is a parking lot in the green courtyard where at least 9 cars can be parked.
The restoration of the façade has actually been completed. The exterior of the building was restored according to the 1926 project, including wooden windows with decorative shutters and a clay tile roofing by Monier and Creaton. This project is a reminder that anything that collapses can be rebuilt. Beautiful architecture, in spite of everything, is able to survive the centuries.
